Banks

Lloyds Bank

17 Heath Rd, Twickenham TW1 4AW, UK – 0345 300 0000

This branch doesn't seem to be frequented too often, and I've never found I've had to wait long at all to see someone. They were super helpful the time when all my cards got cloned, and the cheque machine is super simple to use. Nice, bright, open and airy.

Pleasant and spacious and a nice place to visit, but like a lot of Lloyds banks these days it has a skeleton staff so watch out if you're in a rush. One teller and a queue is a common sight.

Barclays Bank

114 High Street Whitton, Twickenham TW2 7LW, UK – 0345 734 5345

Only just changed over to Barclays from HSBC, so far I've had a great experience, a bank shop front on the high street with friendly staff like Whitton has is very desirable.

Good service good location

TSB Bank

122 High St, Hounslow TW3 1NA, UK – 020 8790 9980

I have banked here for over 20 years and I can say that the staff are absolutely wonderful. They are always very courteous, polite and always willing to help you. I've not ever had to wait more than a few minutes unlike other banks, and best of all, you can call the branch direct and a member of staff will answer your questions. Best bank hands down.

Many thanks to Paula for dealing with me in a thoroughly professional and helpful manner. The fact I was a bit aggressive and peeved notwithstanding, Paula went out of her way to placate reassure and explain the technicalities. Upon a return visit with additional paperwork to TSB rules, all was resolved. She must have the patience of a saint!

Building Societies

Nationwide

32 Heath Rd, Twickenham TW1 4DD, UK – 0800 554 0262

Rather small and pokey branch but it has everything you need. And the Nationwide is a national treasure: our last building society - which means it is run for the benefit of its customers not its shareholders. It's also one of the best providers of added benefits accounts.

Nationwide

I was in a big trouble as my card was cloned, Helen helped me in everything I needed to sort out. Very friendly and competent. I highly recommend

Thank you for the friendly and competent service expertly delivered by BEN ROSE this early morning 09/10/2017 This branch employs lovely staff!

Local Chambers of Commerce for TW1 4TQ. These can be an extraordinarily effective way of getting into the business community and / or getting things done. Equally they can be entirely useless depending on the chair. If they have networking events associated with them definitely go, and keep going, if you have a business that need local support. What you put in is exactly what you get out. Below is the national site. Watch this slot - it might improve!

Good service and help, used to be better but due to the demand the service has been streamlined, appointments for new claims have to be booked though walk in is still available for updating claims.

Food Waste not collected. Went online to RUTC site, Waste Collection page, reported non-collection, informed waste would be collected within two working days. It wasn't. Don't waste your time reporting online. Call them instead.

Dental Surgeries

Dhiman Dental

169 Percy Rd, Twickenham TW2 6JS, UK – 020 8894 3141

Dentists were friendly and gave me excellent advice on my teeth and I left with them much sparkly and cleaner than before. Based on my first time here I'd highly recommend it. Name is a little unfortunate

Excellent advice and great treatments by professional and ethical dentist! Finding a good dentist is all about honesty and trust. We have previously been ripped off... we came here for a second opinion, only to find out our first dentist was planning on creaming us for unnecessary treatments! It's a tad bit further for us to travel but it's definitely been worth it! I would definitely recommend Dhiman!

Amber Dental Surgery

165 St. Margarets Rd, Twickenham TW1 1RD, UK – 020 8744 9922

The young Irish dentist is very good. She is kind and gentle and sorted my fillings as painlessly as was possible. Professional and calm, does not rush you.

Excellent experience, kind courteous dentist, explained everything thoroughly and allowed me to ask questions. Helped me to overcome my phobia of dental treatment. I would thoroughly recommend him

Twickenham Dental Care

90 Heath Rd, Twickenham TW1 4BW, UK – 020 8744 1944

Brilliant service, very professional and friendly staff. Great quality of work carried out, I would definitely recommend them.

Exceptional care and consideration throughout extensive dental work. I found Mike, Tom and the entire team to be the most professional practice I have ever used. I was made to feel comfortable at all times and yes, even relaxed, throughout some quite challenging treatments. Everything was planned to ensure my understanding of what was required and to make each appointment as easy and comfortable as possible. I am very pleased with the end result and would recommend them very highly to anyone seeking the highest level of dental care.

Roseneath Medical Practice

Mount Ararat Rd, Richmond TW10 6PA, UK – 020 3771 8962

Dr Soori is a fantastic practitioner who takes the time to understand her patients. She provides holistic care with a smile. Also her availability (in person or via email) is fantastic. Also the reception staff is welcoming and helpful.

Very much more in hope than expectation of an emergency appointment I rang Roseneath Medical Practice last Sunday at around 12.30p.m. I spoke with a very sympathetic and efficient receptionist and found myself - just over an hour later - sitting in Dr Soori's consulting room. Dr Soori was both empathetic and professional and took the time to give me useful, practical advice. She had arranged for a courier to be waiting to go immediately to the lab, hence accelerating my test results which were e-mailed to me the following evening. I was extremely impressed with the care I received and would not hesitate to return to the practice in future.

Lock Road Surgery

55 Lock Rd, Richmond TW10 7LJ, UK – 020 8940 1400

Extremely helpful and accommodating front desk staff, despite their workload and being yelled at by an endless stream of ill-mannered patients. Doctors all seem highly competent, one of the more professionally-run surgeries I’ve come across.

My mum since moving here in the last 9 months has always found the staff polite and helpful and the Doctor very good. The service has been good. I'm sure the staff have to put up with people shouting at them - Last week in the waiting room we heard a member of staff being very polite on the phone but she was clearly being shouted at from the other end. Good manners are two way.

Dr N Potts

37 Park Rd, Teddington TW11 0AU, UK – 020 8977 5481

Got better in the last year, and tend to listen more. I had an issue with a reference to specialist/hospital for my child a year ago, which was solved eventually (unluckily after she was hospitalised).

Clearly an extremely busy surgery and never seems to be organised. However, given how overwhelmingly busy the receptionists are, they always make an effort to be helpful. I have great appreciation for the amount of multi- tasking they do, so I've never taken any abruptness personally or considered it being maliciously rude. Overall, they are kind and helpful- just busy.

NHS Direct is now NHS 24. Just dial 111 to speak to a professional or click the link below for there self help website. Lots of really useful info but keep clear of heart surgery! If in doubt ask your GP or call 111. Good luck.

Queen Mary Maternity Unit

Isleworth TW7 6AF, UK – 020 8321 5952

I had my baby on February 2015. I had the best nurses (with the exception of a very grumpy one on the night shift-but not even she can make me think less of this maternity unit) I had the opportunity to go to the health centre suites. My suite had a huge Jacuzzi, soft lighting, and relaxing music. The staff was very calm and helped and encouraged me all the way with soft words. My experience was so good that I actually remember my birth very fondly (How many women can actually say that?) Even before I gave birth I had a couple of times when I was in tears because I couldn't feel my baby moving for 2 days (something normal sometimes) and I went to see them, each time they treated with a lot of patience. This staff is amazing. The facilities are very clean and nice. best maternity unit I have ever been.

The best maternity hospital. So friendly, helpful, kind and encouraging staff. They had so much patience with me and they showed their support even after my labours. I can see that they love their job and if not, then they are not showing it. Everything was clean and nice.

Local Restaurants & Places to Eat around Twickenham

Masaniello

22 Church St, Town Centre, Twickenham TW1 3NJ, UK – 020 8891 5777

Cosy, welcoming and relaxing. Very good quality of ingredients. Really enjoyed dining here. Although usual when you tip 25% in cash you get a thank you, anywhere you go. This has changed my experience from a 5 to a 3 star.

Lovely restaurant with very pretty food as well as good home cooked Italian food. We had a chickpea, rosemary and cod soup, octopus and deep fried poached eggs all of which was excellent. For mains a good baked aubergine parmigiana, vesuvio folded pizza and a merluzo stacked with crushed potatoes and onion tempura. Good price for the 3 of us.

TW2 Bar and Grill Restaurant

80-82 The Green, Twickenham TW2 5AG, UK – 020 8898 9298

Great little intimate find overlooking Twickenham Green. Not sure if we went there during a quiet time, but it was cosy and warm environment, with very friendly local staff. Went there for a Sunday lunch expecting the fairly standard pub Sunday Roast faire. But boy were we pleasantly surprised! The roast lamb was so succulent and tasty, and with such lovely presentation of tasty roasted vegetables. Solid selection of wines and a great little bar with a pleasant assortment of cocktails and spirits.

Simply amazing steaks. I went twice to make sure the first time wasn't a fluke before I left a review. I went for a simple rump steak, I kid you not, this simple cut was transformed to something out of this world, there was no gristle at all. When I had finished I did not have one single cut away that I had trimmed, not one, I was able to eat the entire steak as it was all meat. Cooked rare, to perfection. The manager explained they cut the steaks themselves so take care as to each steaks attributes. The price is fair, and service is very good. I've made myself hungry just thinking about those steaks.

A Cena

418 Richmond Rd, Twickenham TW1 2EB, UK – 020 8288 0108

Nice place with a great selection of wines and delicious plates. The prawn appetiser was crispy and fresh. I had the chicken with salad on the side which was very similar to a Caesar salad and also very tasty.

Great food! Attentive service that's not too laid back, nor too fussy Good wine list, and excellent cocktails

Nursery and Preschools

Hounslow Day Nursery & Pre-School

20 Montague Rd, Hounslow TW3 1LD, UK – 020 8570 4409

I have worked at the nursery for nearly one year and I believe it is one of the best nurseries I have worked in, everyone is very professional and the staff work well as a team. I have recently enrolled my son and i couldn’t be more happier with the love and care which is provided by the staff. The managers are hands on and always offer support to the staff by stepping into the rooms when needed. Hounslow Asquith nursery is an outstanding nursery , this is shown in their practice and OFSTED rating.

Absolutely fantastic nursery! I have been working here for nearly 8 months and this nusrery has been the best of my experiences so far. Here children are in safe hands and don't feel far from home as we create such a fun and interactive environment. The management is very cooperative and motivating. The staff has always ready to help me on a number of occasions.I will highly recommend parents to join this outstanding nursery.

Primary and Secondary Schools

Marshgate Primary School

157 Queen's Rd, Richmond TW10 6HY, UK – 020 8332 6219

Both my daughters spent seven very happy years at Marshgate and look back at their primary school fondly. My eldest daughter started in 2003 and my youngest in 2006. As a family we have all been part of the wonderful Marshgate community that exists to this day.

My grandchildren both attended Marshgate School for all of their years in primary education. I thought they had a great education and the staff were always welcoming when ever I attended the many plays, choir and instrumental concerts that were held over the years. The children were happy at the school and sad to leave when it was time to move to secondary school.

Alexandra Primary School

Denbigh Rd, Hounslow TW3 4DU, UK – 020 8570 6826

It's been a while since I've been here, but I'd definitely recommend this primary school for your children, it has plenty of learning opportunities and teachers always try their best for pupils to have fun!

I totally recommend sending your child here. I enjoyed this school very much and so did my siblings.

Chatsworth Primary School

Heath Rd, Hounslow TW3 2NW, UK – 020 8560 6019

Our eldest attended reception till Y6. Been very well looked after. It's a progressive school and despite the government rating, the school results for the kids are far better than competing schools. It's not just academically minded, they try to introduce the kids to other aspects of life, so they go to musicals, and PGL trips overseas etc. A fair amount of the kids try for and achieve offers to grammars in other boroughs, normally at higher requirements due to being out-of-borough, as Hounslow has no grammars of it's own. Our middle boy is at reception now and the level of stimulation he is receiving seems to be a level above his older sister, which many parents like myself will surely welcome. It's just not the school, the catchment also attracts competent families, which will raise the expectations for all involved.

I go to this school myself and I think this school is really fair and very disciplined. This school is bully free and there are message boxes around the school to stop bully's once and for all. So in conclusion, this school is really good and i think if you are trying to enrol your child into a nursery to year 6 school I personally recommend you go to this school.

Public & Preparatory Schools

Radnor House Independent School

21 Cross Deep, Twickenham TW1 4QG, UK – 020 8891 6264

Some of the "reviews" on this school seem to be written by people who have no experience of it, or are written by people who have an axe to grind for various reasons. My experience is our son has been attending the school in year 7 and has so far completed two terms. Previously he was at Hampton Prep for his primary school years. My wife and I picked the school after attending a couple of open days and speaking with the teachers, who we found to be highly motivated and enthusiastic. Now we have two terms experience I think we can start to form some conclusions. The first is that our initial impression about the quality of the teachers has proved correct. Our son really enjoys school and has found new motivation to work hard to try and achieve his potential. We have also found the teachers to be accessible, constructive and helpful. One point to note is that a new headmaster has recently taken over at the school. He has a good level of experience having been a headmaster previously for a number of years. I hope (and expect) that the foundations laid by his predecessor will be continued, in particular with the method of recruiting talented teaching professionals. My suggestion would be if you are considering sending your child to Radnor House is to go along to an open day, ask challenging questions, and judge for yourself. The school is definitely worth including in your short list, and my wife and I are very pleased we chose it for our eldest son.

Nice school in nice location

Oak Heights school

Red Lion Court, Alexandra Rd, Hounslow TW3 1JS, UK – 020 8577 1827

We made a wise decision to choose Oak heights Independent School for our daughter. The school has high standards of teaching specially Maths and science. Mr.Dhillion the head teacher shows special interest in students day to day learning. He is very dedicated to the school and its progress. Mr.Prashar the physics teacher, explains the subject till the students get it, no matter if he needs to repeat it again and again. I strongly recommend Oak heights. As it is better than some of the grammar schools. The bonus is that extra tuitions twice a week included in the tuition fees. 5* rating....

Amazing school ! A very good learning environment
