Queen Mary Maternity Unit

Isleworth TW7 6AF, UK – 020 8321 5952

I am posting on a behalf of a friend who I was with while she was going through the labour stages. We were truly, and I mean, TRULY impressed by the professional conduct of the midwife and a trainee-midwife, who were simply brilliant: positive at all times (even when things were not looking good), praising my friend for doing well (when in fact the baby's head just would NOT show :-) ) , on their feet all the time - checking on her regularly. Those midwives were firmly attentive to the mum-to-be during their whole 12-hrs shift. Totally amazed by their professionalism. Let's face it: 12 hrs shift and till smiling at the end of it - we don't see this very often. Thank you, Angelika and thank you, the trainee midwife! You are true stars! The nightshift ladies have been, in contrast with you two, not very professional, though, but at that stage my friend said she and her hubby hadn't been bothered with them. Overall, outstanding service!

I had my baby on February 2015. I had the best nurses (with the exception of a very grumpy one on the night shift-but not even she can make me think less of this maternity unit) I had the opportunity to go to the health centre suites. My suite had a huge Jacuzzi, soft lighting, and relaxing music. The staff was very calm and helped and encouraged me all the way with soft words. My experience was so good that I actually remember my birth very fondly (How many women can actually say that?) Even before I gave birth I had a couple of times when I was in tears because I couldn't feel my baby moving for 2 days (something normal sometimes) and I went to see them, each time they treated with a lot of patience. This staff is amazing. The facilities are very clean and nice. best maternity unit I have ever been.

The new NHS website below is very well worth a look. Hospitals are not only listed but evaluated. I certainly know which ones I would go to! At the very least you will know what questions to ask if you are sent to one which has not entered its data. Good luck!
